Taking Time for Teens
An Advocacy Toolkit for Community Engagement in
Teen Pregnancy Prevention
Georgia’s teen pregnancy rate has declined an impressive 30% over the past decade. Despite our dramatic progress, this is no time for complacency. In a sudden reversal of the downward trend Georgia’s teen birth rate increased by 3% in 2006, and our state still has one of the highest teen pregnancy rates in the country.
G-CAPP has launched the 15 by 15 goal - a 15% reduction in the teen pregnancy rate in Georgia by year 2015 - as a call to action
to ensure that our state continues to make progress in preventing teen pregnancy.
Every community in the state has an important role to play in achieving the 15 by 15 goal. This Advocacy Toolkit contains useful resources to help advocates - including young people, parents, community leaders, adolescent service providers and policymakers – make a difference in their communities.
